I have always been inspired and deeply renewed by being in nature, spending many years painting outside on location. With digital photography I could instantly carry the fresh images of nature back to my studio. I have added new layers to my canvases, using words, drips, and collage, mimicking natures many unexpected textures, sparkles, and patterns. I love the challenge of integrating these under layers into the paintings allowing the textures and patterns to show through, surprising me, as well as the viewer.
